Good work folks, never stop being awesome! Dee, it's great to see how much you've progressed since you started on NG.
RobTop pls add this!
This is absolutely lovely, I don't even have tangible feedback on what to improve upon. Good luck on the contest!
I'm not in the contest because I'm judging this year, but I still wanted to make something. Thanks for the kind words!
Awesome work from everyone, let's try and get some listens for you.
Hey, Thanks man! Glad you liked it

It's an interesting blend of ambient and rock. The first little bit has abandoned mall vibes, and I could picture it playing out of a small kiosk in the distance. I might suggest seeing how it would be with the ambient stem at a lower volume and subordinate to the rock track, as once they both go they kind of compete with each other too much.
Thanks for the feedback :P
Yah I agree that the two main sounds has a feeling like they are competing in the track...
That's because I wanted to make an ambient song but in the middle of the work I found these guitar samples so I thought to make a post-rock song out of this
However.... I was wondering how to set the volumes of these lines but there were too many of them so it would have been too tireing and complicated to get the right sounding. I'm so impatient and I would have liked to get reviews as soon as possible so I finished it without trying to fix the lines...
It was a great opinion thanks :P <3
I liked the theme in this. Crime scene cleanup is its own industry, so why not crime scene creation.
Not much to pick at for quality. I caught mouth noise at 1:44 but it's very subtle, I was just listening for little quirks.
This was a great first foray into the VO world, and resulted in a solid standing in the competition. I hope you stick around and continue to submit some great works.
Straight up thanks. You may or may not know how great it feels to be appreciated for something you always thought you'd had a good chance at accomplishing. Thanks again for the opportunity and for the time being, I'll definitely stick around; got a feeling there's a lot of opportunities here to find like-minded people who are willing to throw stuff together and see what makes for interesting entertainment. Thanks again to all involved <3
The script was well written, and the characters were distinct. The social worker seemed pompous.
I'm going to build on what LuckyDee mentioned. It sounds like you were adjusting off the raw microphone input. With low power microphones, it helps to Normalize the audio track (in Audacity, under the Effect tab), which raises the volume of the selection.
The double edge of normalizing is that it boosts everything, so it increases the ambient background noise as well. If your computer is anything like mine and sounds like an entire air force breaking the sound barrier, that can be a challenge. More on that in the VO Home Studio link on the VAC rules post if you're interested.
Nice to see you submit again after a four year break, I hope you stick around :)
Thanks.
My reoccurring problem seem to be static, volume & consistency. For this I used an Olympus hand recorder inside foam box & then edited in Audacity. I also have a Blue Yeti but when I plug it in the results are not consistent. Like you said using Audacity to "normalize" does increase static and volume. Using the equalizer ( filter curve) as LuckyDee suggested removed static & increase volume some. I did try normalizing after equalizing but that added static. The new version of Audacity seems to have replaced noise removal with noise reduction.
Most of my animations, I record my own voice for and reviewers do raise issues with understanding the audio, but unlike this contest I don't usually get specifics to the issue or how to fix.
The knock at 0:58 was so crisp it fooled me twice, which says a lot about the audio quality and I suppose my waiting for gremlins to come to the door and beg for candy.
I liked the range from narrator to small fork-knife cosplayer. You mentioned in a review reply you recorded this; I hope the pants pissing references and super saiyan moment at 2:27 didn't give you troubles with management or housekeeping. Knowing this after the judging helps reinforce my scoring, as you produced a high quality submission in a restrictive environment.
Good work, I'm looking forward to what you come up with next!
